Vincent Shorter Appointed Interim County Administrator For Pittsylvania County
Vincent Shorter was appointed interim County Administrator by the Pittsylvania County Board of Supervisors at its June 18 business meeting.
Shorter currently serves as Pittsylvania County Treasurer and will be paid $75,000 above his salary as Treasurer. Shorter’s interim appointment is for six months, beginning July 1.
Shorter was appointed by a 5-2 vote by the Board.
The Board will also begin a comprehensive search for a new administrator.
“The Board is pleased and honored to appoint Mr. Shorter to the position of interim County Administrator. We are confident that he will serve the County with the highest degree of dedication and integrity while the Board conducts its search for a permanent replacement,” said Darrell Dalton, Chairman, Pittsylvania County Board of Supervisors.
“I am humbled and honored to have the opportunity to lead the County forward during this time of transition. I’m excited to serve the Board and citizens of this great Country in this additional role, said Shorter.
Shorter fills the vacancy left after the resignation of former County Administrator Stuart Turille Jr. in April. He has served as Pittsylvania County Treasurer since 2016 and is a County native.
Shorter has a bachelor’s degree in computer science and criminal justice from Liberty University as well as a Master Governmental Treasurer certification from the University of Virginia and a Virginia Government Accounting Certificate from Radford University. Shorter also worked for more than a decade in the film industry where he managed budgets for a range of different projects, to include many well-known films.
